Home Charging Solutions for Your Chevy EV
At Casey Chevrolet, we know that the freedom and convenience of driving a new Chevy EV extend far beyond the open road. Home charging is one of the most important ways to ensure your electric vehicle is always ready for your next adventure. With the right setup, you can enjoy faster charging times, lower energy costs, and the comfort of fueling up in your own garage or driveway.
Different Charging Options
There are a few different home charging solutions you can pick to power up your new Chevy EV. The first is a Level 1 charger, which uses a standard 120-volt power outlet that’s likely already installed in your garage. Although this method will increase your battery in a pinch, it’s not ideal for daily charging habits. This is the slowest option and generally gives you about four miles of range per hour of charge.
Perhaps the most popular method is a Level 2 charger, which is common at both home and public charging stations. This option requires a 240-volt power outlet and can optionally be hardwired into your home. The standard Level 2 charger provides up to 12 miles of range per hour of charge, and the more robust GM PowerUp® 2 charger can deliver up to 19 miles per hour.
The fastest method, which can give you up to 32 miles of range per charging hour, is the GM Energy PowerShift® Bidirectional charger. This option must be hardwired, and it’s powerful enough to let your new Chevy EV provide electricity to your home in case of a blackout.
How to Schedule a Charger Installation
Scheduling a technician to install a new Chevy EV charger at your home is as easy as filling out an online form. You’ll receive a link where you can enter your information and some pictures, and a representative from the Chevrolet-approved electricians at Qmerit® will contact you to schedule an appointment.
If you have any questions at all about which home charging solution is right for you or how and when to fill out the form, just stop by our dealership. We’ll be happy to help you get the most out of your new Chevy EV.
