Types of Chargers

The Chevy brand’s state-of-the-art battery platform makes it safe and easy to charge your EV. Three types of chargers are available:

  • Level 1 – all that’s needed here is a charging cord and a standard 120-volt household outlet.
  • Level 2 – this level requires a 240-volt outlet, but is considerably faster than Level 1. Level 2 charging is available at public places such as parking garages, stores, and hotels.   • DC Fast Charging – this is the most powerful form of charging and is available at select commercial and public locations.

  • Cabin preconditioning: on particularly hot or cold days, it’s a smart idea to precondition the cabin of your EV while it’s plugged into the charging outlet. This way, the required energy is taken from the outlet instead of the electric battery.
  • Extreme weather: further to the topic of climate, extreme weather – both hot and cold – can adversely affect battery life. In such conditions, we recommend that you avoid parking outdoors and instead keep your EV in a garage or similar covered area.
  • Driving habits: given an EV’s ability to instantaneously accelerate, it’s tempting to go pedal to the metal whenever possible. However, gentle acceleration and overall smooth driving are the path to maximizing battery range.
